What do you find most rewarding about your role at Credit Sesame?

The journey that I'm on will always be the most rewarding part of my role. For the last five years, I've had the honor of collaborating with so many talented individuals to build amazing products and experiences that help millions of people across North America. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing your contribution makes a difference in peoples lives. 🙌🏾

What does Black History Month mean to you?

BHM is honoring heritage. It's reflecting on history. It's celebrating the present. It's building towards the future and showing love to all. ❤️

Who is someone in the Black community that inspires you?

My friends at HXOUSE, who are constantly empowering the creative community through initiatives like BLACK HXOUSE and creating opportunities for creatives to thrive. They are an inspiration to not only myself, but to creative communities around the globe. 🌐

What piece of financial advice would you give to your younger self?

Hmm.. when you hear about a digital currency called bitcoin, buy it. Lots of it. And HODL. 😅

How did you get into product design?

In the early 2000's before MySpace and Facebook, there were these social media websites called Black Planet and Asian Avenue that had profile pages you could design with code. The idea that a line of code could output something visual onto a page on the internet, was mind blowing to me. I was around 12 years old and this was my first exposure to HTML & CSS. At the same time, I was starting to discover my passion for graphic design and photography. When I got to high school, I designed and developed my first website and never looked back. I knew this was going to be my future.

What advice do you have for people looking to start their creative careers today?

For whatever creative career path you are on, stick with it. Don't let failures discourage you, instead use them as lessons to learn from. Stack your wins, refine your skillset and have fun. Opportunity comes through experience and you only grow by gaining more of it. Most importantly, trust the process.

What hobbies/interests can we find you doing outside of work?

Basketball and Golf are two of my favourite things to do outside of work. I've been playing Basketball my whole life but the covid restrictions, and a Jordan documentary led me to Golf. I have a new respect and appreciation for the sport and I love how challenging it is. As a true hooper tho, all my clubs are swooshed out and I only rock J's on the golf course. 🏀 🏌🏾‍♂️
